Web design project for Visual Thinking. I’m going to have four indie-pop artists from around the world (USA, Switzetrland, UK, Japan). Each color stripe is going to be a button that leads you in to the page that has a short bio of the artist, and a picture as well. Perhaps, if I can figure it out a music player so you can listen to one of their songs.
New Beginnings - Art Show at CHAC Gallery
When you go inside the CHAC Gallery, you say to yourself “well, this looks like any other art gallery.” That may be true, but it is not what CHAC looks like in the inside, it’s what it represents. It’s a gallery solely dedicated to Chicano artists and Chicano art. If you are not familiar what Chicano means, well, it’s a word to describe a person from Mexican descent who was born in the United States. It’s not a word to look down upon, it’s a word that Mexican’s who were born in the U.S. embrace.
I wouldn’t have come the New Beginnings Art Show if it weren’t for my friend Avalon, who’s work is being displayed at the show as well as many other young chicano artists. “I’m nervous” says Avalon, “so much hard work has been put to this.” This is Avalon’s second art show. She begins to mingle with the guests who arrive, explaining them her art work and what inspired them. As she begins to talk about her self, she loses all nervousness and gets lost in the meaning of her art. “It’s about being proud of who you are, that where you are is where your heart is, where your home is.” She says. She gets so lost in explaining her work of art that she begins to tear up a little.

Above, you see a picture of Avalon in front of her painting called “Being.” The painting that she almost full on cried about. The golden background really give the colors more confidence and almost life. Overall I really enjoyed seeing the art. It was really nice to see the young chicano artists explain their art work and get very emotional about it. I am not a chicano, I was born in Mexico but raised in the U.S. Although I am not one, I still feel like we share the same story. It almost makes me feel like I’m in a nice, little, family.
